This fall, Theatre at CUE presents The Glorious 12th, a Canadian play set in Southern Ontario. 1927 was a difficult year for the Orange Lodge. The House of Commons was now officially bilingual. French appeared on Canadian postage stamps and refugees from continental Europe were arriving in record numbers to share in Canada’s prosperity. The MacKay family fears that their way of life is under siege. Into this atmosphere, opportunistic Klansmen crossed the Canadian border to prey on the anxiety of citizens. The world is changing and the Mackay family has dark secrets to face. The story of the play is fictional but the historical background is not.
