Randy Ritz, BEd,
MFA, PhD
Dr
Randy Ritz has a strong background in popular
theatre, directing, acting, public speaking and
educational drama. He is also a leader in integrating
media and communciation for large group gatherings
and is active in film acting and commercials.
A dynamic “hands on” teacher and lecturer, Randy
is the head of the drama department at Concordia.
Dr. Ritz is a nationally known speaker, entertainer,
and educator who performs groundbreaking shows
at churches and conferences across North America.

Caroline
Howarth,
BA
Honours, MA
Caroline is a director, facilitator
and theatre instructor. She has been an instructor
in the Concordia Drama Department for the last
9 years, teaching acting, directing and improvisation.
She has directed many student productions for
Concordia including Seussical, Arsenic
and Old Lace, and Godspell. Caroline
is a founding co-director of Concrete Theatre,
Edmonton’s only professional theatre for young
audiences. For Concrete Theatre, she has directed
and facilitated many projects including the Sterling
Award winning The Shape Of A Girl, The
Sprouts Festival of New Plays for Kids and most
recently A Promise to the Sun & Carnival
Magic. Caroline has also directed at The
Citadel Theatre, Walterdale Theatre and the Fringe
Festival. Over the past 15 years, Caroline has
taught at Artstrek, the Citadel Theatre School
and the U of A. Caroline also works in opera as
a singer and director. She directed Suor Angelica
for Opera Nuova and The Y2K Blackdeath Oratorio
for Edmonton Opera. She has been a member of the
Edmonton Opera chorus for 12 years. Caroline has
an MA in Popular Theatre from the U of A.

Gilbert
Allan, BEd,
Drama Specialist
Gilbert Allan brings years of film and commercial
experience to Concordia with hundreds of commercials,
promotional and training films, music videos, television
specials, and three feature films to his credit.When
not directing for the stage or screen, Gil teaches
film and acting. Through Gilbert Allan (with his
second nomination for a “best director” Alberta
Motion Picture IndustryAward), Concordia students
have a conduit to film and commercial crews in Western
Canada and therefore the potential to be hired in
this field.
